Clarach Bay

Clarach Bay is the next bay north from Aberystwyth, just the other side of Constitution Hill. Apart from a couple of houses, it is solely a holiday resort with a safe, sheltered beach. The holiday parks have quite good leisure facilities for guests and paying non-residents.

The Clarach Walk

If you're staying in Clarach Bay you can enjoy a very pleasant cliff-edge walk from Aberystwyth to Clarach Bay. Starting at the end of the Promenade, make your way to the top of Constitution Hill, then simply follow the well-worn path along the hillside.

Clarach Market

There's a long-established market at Clarach Bay, with a mixture of commerical stalls and car-booters. Clothing, shoes, household goods and food are on offer. The market runs every Sunday from Easter until the end of July. (From then till the end of September, you'll find the market at Tre'r Ddol on the Machynlleth road.)

Clarach Proper

The village of Clarach (along with tiny neighbour Llangorwen) is distinct from the resort,
Clarach Bay is only a couple of miles' drive from Aberystwyth and is reached by taking the main A487 road up Penglais hill towards Machynlleth, then turning left at the crossroads at the top of the hill. Arriva bus 500 runs during the summer months.
